Hey Dad! This night’s for you. Come on in (don’t be afraid) and learn a few neat tricks to make you look like a hero in the delivery room and at home with your new baby. We’ll look at some easy ways to make your wife more comfortable during labor, how you can support your wife in breastfeeding, and we’ll practice a few quick baby calming tricks. Learn some activities you can do with your baby to help you bond and get to know the personality of your little one. Bring mom along if you like, or come on your own and surprise her with your amazing skills and tricks!

Birth: What’s it REALLY like?

What is a Birth Plan? Do I need one? - Come find out what your options are for birth in the Seacoast Region. Hospitals, Birth Centers, Home Birth; which is for you? Do you need childbirth ed? What questions should you be asking your provider and what do you need to know to be an educated birth consumer?
A Labor Doula will show you how to recognize and cope with contractions. Learn about your options for natural and medicated labor, including information on TENS for labor and the Yoga Birth Method. Try out labor positions on a birth ball or with a rebozo. Find out what a doula brings with her to a birth. Discover the Yoga Birthing Method!
A Postpartum Doula will help you plan for the “Fourth Trimester”, those special first weeks home with your newborn, explain what your body will go through after delivery, and show you how you can make the most of your recovery for you and your baby. Learn how your placenta can help you recover from birth from a placenta encapsulation specialist.

Breast Start

Our Certified Lactation Counselors will talk about the first hour of life and the instinctual newborn behaviors that can help you get the best start on breast feeding. They will show you how to recognize a good latch and answer your questions about pumping, medications and daily life as a nursing mother. Come try out breast feeding pillows, nursing chairs and pumping bras. Most importantly you will learn how to create a circle of support for your breastfeeding journey.

Life with a baby is a whole new world. Whether it’s your first baby, or one more in the crowd, life will be different from here on out.
Come learn the secrets to a calm and happy baby. We’ll be learning skills to calm fussy babies and encourage better sleep. There will be an opportunity to practice hands on swaddling techniques, baby massage, baby wearing, and calming, as well as simple yoga breathing for relaxation.
We’ll be learning about processing your birth experience, addressing fears, and finding support. We’ll also help you begin to recognize and understand the natural hormonal and emotional changes, mood issues and how you can enjoy your new “normal” life.
